Jockey Leanne Henry to return to trackwork

Thursday 1 June 2017, 4:37pm

Leanne Henry is ready for a return to trackwork after recovering from a broken collarbone suffered in a three-horse fall.

Henry and apprentice Melanie Bolwell were injured in a fall at Warialda on April 8 in which popular country jockey Darren Jones lost his life.

Racing NSW's Maurice Logue said Henry would start riding trackwork on Tuesday with a view to a return to race-riding from June 26.

Bolwell is continuing her rehabilitation in Liverpool Hospital after spending several weeks in the Gold Coast Hospital.

Logue said fellow jockey Winona Costin, who broke both her wrists in a fall at Wellington on March 12, was also progressing well.

Her mother Patricia had advised the plate in her left wrist had been removed and she would soon have the right one taken out.
