In the same week champion trainer Laurie Laxon announced his intentions to leave Singapore the progeny of another Singapore champion is set to run at Moonee Valley.

The John Sadler-trained Typhoon Jolie, a daughter of Singapore triple-crown winner Jolie's Shinju, lines up in the William Hill Handicap (1500m) on Saturday.

Jolie's Shinju was crowned Singapore's Horse of the Year in 2009 with the Group One Singapore Derby among her victories.

Sadler is hoping a rise in distance can help Typhoon Jolie, who is raced by her mother's Singapore-based owner Dr Tan Kai Chah, return to winning form.

Typhoon Jolie hasn't been successful since winning at Rosehill in November 2015 when trained by Peter and Paul Snowden and has been unplaced in all four runs for Sadler.

But her effort when fourth to Fuhryk in the Group Three Proud Miss Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville on May 20 was an improvement on previous performances.

Sadler says the extended distance may help Typhoon Jolie get some all important black-type before she retires to the breeding barn.

"It's a big step up in journey on Saturday but we want to stretch her out a bit to see whether it worth going on with her at a later date," Sadler said.

"She's beautifully bred and as you can see by the results at the broodmare sale in Queensland if you can go on and get some black-type they can make good money.

"(Blue Diamond placegetter) Formality is out of the same mare, so it's not a bad family.

"We went to Adelaide looking and she ran fourth and we thought her chance to get black-type is to step her up in ground to see how she goes.

"It's a big gamble."

Sadler said a lot of work had gone into Typhoon Jolie in an effort to get her to settle.

He said in her early runs she had been over-racing but did settle much better in Adelaide.

"She still wanted to run along and she'll lead them up on Saturday I would say," Sadler said.

"Mum used to run along but she could run a strong mile and won up to 2000 metres."
