Kudero loves his regular walk through water, but wading through a heavy track at Randwick is not quite a favourite pastime of the seasoned campaigner.

The six-year-old will be out to record back-to-back wins for just the second time in his 56-race career when he runs in Saturday's Listed June Stakes at Randwick, but veteran trainer Clarry Connors admits the weather could dull those aspirations.

"He's OK on a soft but not real good on a heavy so I'm hoping a light weight overcomes that," Connors said.

Ordinarily Kudero doesn't mind getting wet with sessions on the water walker at the Aquagait Equine Centre in Menangle a feature of a relaxed training regime as his career winds down.

"He never does much work. In between runs he goes on the water walker for a week to take the pressure off his legs," Connors said.

Kudero began his career with Conners at Warwick Farm before a stint with Barry Lockwood in Queensland.

He came back to Conners last spring and his 10 starts since have generally been spaced.

His only issue has been feet problems that led to Connors using hoof filler on Kudero for the first time before he won his last start at Randwick on May 27.

That procedure worked a treat as Kudero recorded his 12th win by beating a field that included June Stakes (1100m) joint $6 favourite The Monstar.

Admittedly Kudero had a 5.5kg weight advantage on the Brett Cavanough-trained gelding.

The TAB's $8 chance also benefits on Saturday when he carries 54kg.

The Monstar lugs 57.5kg and co-favourite Felines the 59kg top weight.

"I think he'll run nice. He's got no weight on his back and Jason (Collett) knows the horse backwards," Connors said.

"He's fine, as good as gold. Other than the foot problems he's a very sound horse."

Connors said he would continue to place Kudero, who last had a spell in May last year, in races over winter and if none were suitable he would go to the pool, not the paddock.
