Berry in Prompt result to G2 Dane Ripper

Saturday 10 June 2017, 1:39pm

Sydney filly Prompt Response is set to give Tommy Berry a Group One farewell win after her strong effort at Doomben on Saturday.

Prompt Response ($4.60) shed her reputation as a bridesmaid when she finished strongly to beat her stablemate My True Love ($12) by a long neck in the Group Two Dane Ripper Stakes (1350m).

Berry will now partner the filly in the Group One Tatts Tiara.

The Gai Waterhouse-Adrian Bott training partnership sent Pompt Response north after she finished second in the PJ Bell Stakes, the Hawkesbury Guineas and the Dark Jewel Classic at Scone.

Bott said Prompt Response had gradually been building up to her best with five runs this campaign.

"The Tattersall's Tiara has always been out main aim. She is a filly with plenty of promise and she will get into the Tiara well under the weight conditions," Bott said.

Berry, who takes up a position with John Moore in Hong Kong in the new season, is keen to stick with Prompt Response.

"She wanted to pull too hard at her last start but she settled today and hit the line hard," Berry said.
