Tshahitsi blitzes his rivals at Flemington

Saturday 10 June 2017, 4:36pm

A new trainer will have to found for Tshahitsi if he is to continue his winter Melbourne campaign.

The Tasmanian-trained galloper scored his second win in Victoria from four starts in taking out Saturday's Rod Johnson Handicap (1400m) at Flemington.

Ridden by Brendon McCoull, Tshahitsi ($4.20) scored by 3-1/4 lengths from Loyalty Man ($12) with Royal Rapture ($11) 1-1/4 lengths away third.

Co-trainer Imogen Miller, who trains in partnership with Chris Crook, revealed her visiting trainers' licence is about to expire.

Miller has campaigned Tshahitsi in Victoria since April and has stabled the gelding with Glenn Thornton at Geelong.

Along the way Tshahitsi won the Echuca Cup last month before his success on Saturday.

"My visiting trainers' licence is up. He'll either have to go home or I'll have to transfer him," Miller said.

"Glenn might have landed himself a nice horse."

Saturday's 1400m race was the fifth heat of the Winter Championship with the $150,000 final at Flemington over 1600m on July 8.

"We hadn't looked past today but he's won impressively," Miller said.

"We'll have to sit down and have a think about the Winter Championship now, but he'll have to run for another trainer."
