After a narrow defeat in the opening race at Mornington, Jake Bayliss has made his next opportunity for the Lindsay Park team count with victory on Bay Harmony.

Bayliss has recently transferred to the Lindsay Park stable for the final weeks of his apprenticeship and said trainer David Hayes had been critical of his ride on Tata Madiba in Monday's opening race.

Bayliss took a trail behind the leader on Tata Madiba before angling into the clear and the two-year-old was beaten a nose in a driving finish.

Bayliss' next ride was on Bay Harmony ($16) in the Dandino @ Bombora Downs Handicap (1200m) and after pressing forward to take the lead, Bay Harmony held her rivals at bay to defeat the fast-finishing Whyouask by a head.

"I made sure I got the job done that time because Mr Hayes was on the phone to Ben (Hayes) after my first ride," Bayliss said.

"He thought I should have led and I don't think he was too impressed, but you learn from your mistakes and I made sure this time I was straight on the bunny.

"She gave a good kick at the top of the straight and she just fell in."

Bayliss' younger brother Regan has been a part of the Lindsay Park team for more than a year and has enjoyed plenty of success including a win in the Group One Newmarket Handicap on Redkirk Warrior.

Regan Bayliss is currently sidelined by injury and Jake is hoping to make the most of his opportunities during the winter.

"It's been a couple of weeks now and they've been giving me plenty of opportunities and I'm very grateful for it," Bayliss said.

"It's my second city winner for them. I won on Extra Zero at Flemington and that's how it all started.

"I've got about seven or eight weeks left of my apprenticeship so I've got to make it all count."
