Pike picks up G1 Singapore ride for Laxon

Tuesday 13 June 2017, 5:26pm

Leading Perth jockey William Pike has been granted a one-day licence to ride in a Group One race in Singapore.

Pike will ride the Laurie Laxon-trained Lim's Samurai in the Patron's Bowl at Kranji on Sunday.

It will be Pike's first trip to Kranji although he is no stranger to riding in Asia having had previous successful stints in Hong Kong.

Pike, chasing a ninth Perth jockeys' premiership, leads this season's title race by more than 50 winners.

Laxon called on Pike after regular riders Manoel Nunes and Danny Beasley were booked on other horses in the 1600m-race.

Lim's Samurai, a Japanese-bred four-year-old, has won four of his nine starts.
