Browne on track at Ipswich

Thursday 15 June 2017, 3:21pm

For a jockey who admits he can get lost going to Ipswich races Damian Browne has an amazing record at the track.

Browne lives at Caloundra and is renowned for his dislike of travel down the Bruce Highway for Brisbane and Ipswich meetings.

He has had only four rides at Ipswich this season for two wins and two placings.

On Ipswich Cup day last year he rode a treble including the two feature races - the Cup (Maurus) and Eye Liner Stakes (Ninth Legion).

He was also at Ipswich for the 2015 Cup day and rode another treble including the Eye Liner Stakes on Smokin' Joey.

"I hadn't ridden at Ipswich for three years before 2015 and yes I did get lost on the way there," Browne said.

Browne also won the 2011 Eye Liner Stakes for trainer Gerald Ryan on Adnocon and hopes to make it a record four wins in the race on Snippets Land on Saturday.

He will also ride Kinshachi (Gai Waterhouse Classic) , Acceptile (Bundamba Plate), Barnsley (Bundaberg Rum Hcp) and Snitzel Knight (Ray White Hcp).

"They all have chances so let's hope for another treble," Browne said.
