Trainer John Zielke admitted he was staggered when his two-year-old You Know The One scored an upset win at the Gold Coast on Saturday.
You Know The One ($20) hugged the rail to beat Brinkmanship ($3.10) by two lengths.
Zielke's other runner, the hot favourite Rains Aplenty ($1.55), finished a further neck away in the Membership at Aquis Park Plate (900m).
"I am stunned. No way did I think You Know The One could beat Rains Aplenty," Zielke said.
"I knew You Know The One could gallop but on their work at home Rains Aplenty should have beaten him easily."
You Know The One is a son of Frankel's three-quarter brother Bullet Train.
He was bred by his owner Evan Hartley who also owns Rains Aplenty and is not eligible for the Magic Millions series.
Jockey Luke Dittman, who rides a lot of trackwork and barrier trials for Zielke, said he was confident Rains Aplenty was till the best two-year-old in the stable.
"He was just green in the straight and I think he will improve out of sight for the run," Dittman said.
Dittman protested against Brinkmanship, alleging interference in the early stages of the straight.
Stewards found while Brinkmanship had shifted out and was green it had not been bad enough to alter the result.
