Ipswich abandoned because of rain

Tuesday 17 October 2017, 10:42am

The Ipswich midweek meeting has been lost because of continuing rain in south east Queensland.

Officials had been confident despite three days of rain, Wednesday's meeting could go ahead.

Ipswich has had 110mm since Saturday and was rated a heavy 10 on Tuesday morning.

Stewards walked the track late on Tuesday after a day of showers and decided it would not be fit for racing in the next two to three days.

Racing Queensland decided to abandon the meeting which, had 63 acceptors, rather than find another date.

Saturday's meeting is at Doomben, which has also had more than 110mm but it is in no danger at this stage.
