Mishani Hustler upsets Plumaro at Doomben

Saturday 10 February 2018, 2:38pm

Odds-on favourite Plumaro was beaten at Doomben, but lost nothing with her fast-finishing second.

Plumaro ($1.65) had won her first start by nine lengths at Toowoomba after being slow to jump and then flying home.

It was the same story on Saturday but not the same result when she failed by three-quarters of a lengths to catch Mishani Hustler ($14.

Apprentice Jag Guthmann-Chester said Plumaro had shown no early pace and got back to second last.

"When she gets out to 1400 metres to 1600 metres you will see a different horse," Guthmann-Chester said.

Jeff Lloyd, who rode Mishani Hustler, predicts big futures for his mount and Plumaro.

"I could hear a horse coming and didn't realise it was Plumaro until we got near the line," Lloyd said.

"But she can really motor late, can't she."

Mishani Hustler's victory continued the good run of trainer Ben Currie who brought up his 90th winner for the season.
