Show A Star has lifted Bjorn Baker's spirits with a win to compensate for some frustrating results on his home track at Warwick Farm.
The six-year-old gelding proved too strong for his rivals in the Bowness Stud Mile to record his eighth career win on Saturday, and second in a row.
Show A Star, the $2.10 favourite, controlled the tempo and when briefly challenged on the turn home, he kicked clear to beat Supply And Demand ($2.90) to the line by 1-1/4 lengths.
Testashadow ($4.80) was 2-3/4 lengths adrift in third.
"I'm lucky I've got a ready made horse and he did a really good job, I've underrated this guy a little bit," Baker said.
"It's been an up-and-down day so any Saturday win is a big win in my world."
Baker had six runners, with Egyptian Symbol the only other placegetter after she finished second to Prompt Response in the Group Two Breeders Classic.
