Eustace gets first winner as co-trainer

Thursday 2 August 2018, 3:41pm

The newly formed training partnership of Ciaron Maher and David Eustace is off and running with a win to Reserve Street at Pakenham.

Eustace was elevated to co-trainer alongside multiple Group One winner Maher from Wednesday at the beginning of the new racing season in Australia.

The partnership had its first runner on Wednesday at Sale before Reserve Street was successful in a 1400m benchmark-70 handicap on the synthetic track at Pakenham on Thursday.

"Obviously it's very exciting," Eustace told broadcaster Racing.com.

"It's a real honour to be on the ticket with Ciaron who has achieved so much and I'll forever be grateful for it. And hopefully we can kick on and get a few more winners."

Eustace, 27, had most recently been Maher's assistant.
