Troubled mare Linlithgow has again emphasised just how good she could have been but for a string of injuries with an easy win at Doomben.
Linlithgow ($3.30) made it three wins and a second from four starts when she won Saturday's Diversity Dash (1110m) in a class record 64.18 seconds.
Trainer Toby Edmonds said he got an extra kick out of the win because he didn't know how long he would have the mare.
"She is five years old and having only her fourth start so you can see she has had some issues. She had a bleed in a trial last time in and had to miss three months," Edmonds said.
"Linlithgow has awful front legs and she got caught in a fence as a young horse so her back leg isn't flash either."
Edmonds said he had entered Linlithgow for the Gold Coast as well on Saturday but had always felt she was up to city class.
"You have to chase the bigger prize money with her while you can," he said.
There was a pre-race drama with Linlithgow when she unloaded jockey Jeff Lloyd but passed a an inspection to be allowed to run.
