Mister Sea Wolf wins Listed Rowley Mile

Thursday 23 August 2018, 6:04pm

After breaking his Australian duck in the Listed Winter Challenge, Mister Sea Wolf has gone on with the job to win the Rowley Mile at Hawkesbury.

As he did at Rosehill on July 28 when he wore blinkers for the first time, the Chris Waller-trained Mister Sea Wolf ($3.50 fav) got the better of Godolphin's Flow ($4.20) to win Thursday's Listed feature by half a length.

James McDonald on Mister Sea Wolf stalked Flow throughout the race and had the drop on him in the straight with the pair clearing out from the field.

The Waller-trained Alward ($26) finished third, 1-3/4 lengths from the runner-up.

"It was an easy watch from the 400 (metres)," Waller's representative Liam Prior said.

"He has really sharpened up with the blinkers on and is finding consistency.

'It is good to see him put two together and he is on the right path heading to some of the better races in the spring."

Mister Sea Wolf won six races in England and Ireland but took eight starts to break through in Australia.

After his third in the Doncaster Prelude, the stable put Mister Sea Wolf in the Group One Doncaster Mile but he finished last, 10 lengths from the winner Happy Clapper.
