Vega Magic favoured to win second Memsie

Tuesday 28 August 2018, 8:29am

Chasing back-to-back victories, Vega Magic has been installed favourite for the Group One Memsie Stakes at Caulfield.

The Lindsay Park-trained sprinter is the $2.70 top elect in all-in markets on Saturday's 1400m race.

Vega Magic defeated the Darren Weir-trained pair of Black Heart Bart and Tosen Stardom in last year's race before being freshened and going on to run second to Redzel in the inaugural running of The Everest at Randwick last October.

Ridden by Craig Williams, Vega Magic was sent off the $2.25 favourite in last year's Memsie.

Williams makes way for Damien Oliver on Saturday and Vega Magic heads the market of the 15 nominations with Godolphin's Kementari the $5.50 second pick ahead of Happy Clapper at $6.50.

The $5 Caulfield Cup favourite Kings Will Dream is the only other runner under double figures at $9.50.
