The Kilcoy Race Club is keen for more meetings and to see the possible re-establishment of a Friday TAB circuit for country clubs in Queensland.
For many years Kilcoy, Beaudesert, Esk and Gatton were on a Friday circuit with TAB and Sky Channel coverage.
They have been replaced in recent years mainly by Ipswich and some northern tracks.
Kilcoy club president Con Searle said in the past two years the club, which is 80km north of Brisbane, had turned its track into a top-class grass surface.
"Racing Queensland upgraded our club to a top country TAB race club and awarded us eight meetings during the past year. We have had meetings with RQ seeking another two or three race dates to accommodate our future plans," Searle said.
Part of the upgrade could be for a Friday circuit with Kilcoy to have one meeting a month.
"All eight race meetings during the year have been very successful with very good attendance and increased national TAB betting turnover," Searle added.
He outlined an upgrade of the track which included a new outside running rail in the straight, new placegetters stalls, revamping the present mounting yard into a modern VIP area, with the saddling area adjacent to the horse stalls being converted into the new mounting area.
The Somerset Regional Council has also agreed to help with further renovations of the amenities of the complex.
KIlcoy hosts a meeting on Thursday.
