Chautauqua entered for Flemington jump-out

Wednesday 19 September 2018, 1:53pm

Chautauqua has been entered for a Flemington jump-out in a bid for a reinstatement to racing again.

The Hawkes Racing-trained sprinter is listed among six runners to contest the first 800m jump-out at Flemington on Friday.

Chautauqua needs to pass two barrier tests before being allowed to race again after failing, or being slow to jump, in his last seven trials.

The only time Chautauqua has jumped from the barriers was in a Flemington jump-out on July 12 after which he was transferred to Sydney where he failed to pass two trials at Rosehill on August 7 and August 25.

Should Racing Victoria stewards pass Chautauqua's attempt on Friday, he will need to run in an official trial.

But the next trials in Victoria won't be run until October 8 at either Cranbourne or Tatura.

However newly appointed RV chairman of stewards Robert Cram has indicated an organised trial between races on a race day, as was the case at Rosehill on August 25, would be a suitable alternative.
