FACTS AND FIGURES ON THE GOLDEN ROSE

Group One, 1400m, $1 million, three-year-olds, set weights

HISTORY

* Was the Peter Pan Stakes until 2002. The following year In Top Swing won the first running of the Golden Rose worth $1 million.

* Elevated to Group One status in 2009

* Colts and geldings have dominated the race. No filly has won the race since it became a Group One

THIS YEAR'S FIELD

* There are 11 acceptors with 10 colts and Seabrook the lone filly

* There are two Group One winners in the race, The Autumn Sun and Seabrook

* Trainer Chris Waller has three horses in the race

* Jockeys riding who have won the race since it became a Group One include Tye Angland, Kerrin McEvoy, James McDonald (twice), Tommy Berry and Damien Oliver.

* Peter Snowden trained Denman (2009) and Epaulette (2012) to win while Chris Waller prepared Zoustar to win in 2013. Snowden and his son Paul have Tchaikovsky engaged this year.

* Four of the past nine Run To The Rose winners have completed the double

* Lean Mean Machine is this year's Run To The Rose winner after beating Graff and Jonker into the placings

KEY COMMENTS

"He's maintained his form, tightened up a little bit more so I think he's in the right condition to go into a 1400-metre Group One race" - trainer Kris Lees on Graff.

"They're a good bunch of three-year-olds and my bloke has been around the mark" - jockey Brenton Avdulla on his mount Jonker.

"(Damien Oliver) rode her in a gallop on Tuesday morning and he can be critical, but he's also a very good judge, and he got off and said she's spot on" - trainer Mick Price on Seabrook.
