Venue switch for upcoming twilight meeting

Monday 3 December 2018, 12:56pm

A pre-Christmas midweek twilight race meeting originally scheduled for Sandown has been transferred to Caulfield.

Racing Victoria announced on Monday the December 19 twilight meeting had been moved at the request of the Melbourne Racing Club.

"With the Caulfield track in great condition following its annual post-Caulfield Cup renovation, the MRC is taking the opportunity to provide its members and racing fans with a twilight meeting at Caulfield in the build-up to Christmas," RV said.

The switch of venues means minor distance changes to four of the races.

A four-month period of Wednesday twilight meetings in Victoria begins this week with the meeting at Sandown.

The exceptions to Wednesday twilight meetings over summer are December 26 and January 2.

There will also be an earlier country meeting on the majority of Wednesdays during daylight saving and 13 race-free Mondays up till the end of March.

Wednesday's Sandown meeting begins at 3.25pm with the last of eight races at 7.15pm.
