The charge against Jarrod McLean over his evidence regarding the whereabouts of Trap For Fools before a race at Caulfield is set to be heard by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board.
The RAD Board will hear the charge laid by Racing Victoria stewards on Monday.
A trainer in his own right, McLean is also in charge of leading trainer Darren Weir's Warrnambool stable.
Traps For Fools was scheduled to run in the Coongy Cup on October 20 but was withdrawn after stewards determined the horse was already at Weir's stable in Warrnambool and not residing at McLean's Yangery stable as he had said.
Stewards said one of their members received a text message from McLean at 6:09pm on October 19 saying Trap For Fools would be sent to Weir's stable at 4.30am the following day.
During a race day inspection of the Weir stable at Warrnambool beginning at 3.50am on October 20, the Compliance Assurance team identified Trap For Fools as already being there.
McLean told stewards the horse had been taken to Weir's stable the previous night between 6.30 and 7pm.
They say the text message was false and/or misleading because McLean knew when he sent it Trap For Fools was already at Weir's premises.
