Consistent gelding Few Too Many marked himself as a chance in the Summer Provincial Series Final with his win at a Beaudesert metropolitan midweek meeting.
The provincial series is run over six heats with a $105,000 final at Doomben on December 29.
To be eligible a horse has to have run in at least one of the heats and Few Too Many was third in a heat at the Sunshine Coast last month.
Few Too Many ($2.20) relished a return to his home track with a win in a Class 3 (1200m).
Jockey Ryan Wiggins said Few Too Many could be hard work to ride but would be suited by the 1350m of the Provincial final.
Trainer Ben Ahrens said Few Too Many deserved a crack at a city race and had been a good money spinner for the stable.
"That was three wins and two minor placings from his past five runs," he said.
Former Sydney mare Shield Wall won at her first start for trainer Chris Munce in Fillies and Mares Handicap (1200m).
Shield Wall was formerly trained by Chris Waller and was best known as a 1600-metre horse.
