About 150 workers have been busy getting the Eagle Farm racetrack ready for a crowd of up to 5000 for its return to racing.
Brisbane's premier track has been dormant for most of the past four years after problems with a redevelopment of the racing surface.
Many of the track's facilities have not been used on more than a few occasions during that time.
After barrier trials and jump-outs to test the track last week, a meeting will be held on Saturday to further gauge the success of the work.
Brisbane Racing Club chairman Neville Bell said every effort was being made to ensure the return to racing went smoothly.
"We have had plenty of discussion about what size crowd we are likely to get. Christmas falling on a Tuesday is a two-edged sword for us," Bell said.
"A lot of people will obviously be going away for the Christmas-New Year break which really starts this Friday. On the reverse there is an extra shopping day on Monday which means a lot of people will be staying around.
"We are hoping to get 4000 to 5000 people and we will cater for the higher figure. The BRC wants this return to racing at Eagle Farm to be a great Christmas present for punters."
Bell said 150 cleaners, carpenters, electricians and general workers had been hard at work at Eagle Farm getting the track ready.
"All things being equal it should be spic and span for the day," Bell said.
Nine races will be held at Eagle Farm with a few minor changes to the original program which was set down for Doomben.
