Craig Williams to return at Moonee Valley

Wednesday 31 July 2013, 5:26pm

Another successful Japanese tour of duty is behind him and a holiday has refreshed him.

Now it's time for Craig Williams to illuminate another spring carnival with the style that has made him Australia's most consistent, top quality racing export.

Williams resumes at Moonee Valley on Saturday with two good rides for two top stables, which gives him no chance of repeating the form he showed the last time he rode in Melbourne when he piloted four winners.

Williams handles Metastasio for Peter Snowden in the Aquanas Foods Handicap (1000m) and Reuben Percival for Gai Waterhouse in the DPOS Displays Handicap (2500m).

Metastasio emerged as one of Snowden's most prominent Blue Diamond contenders in the autumn with wins at her first two starts before finishing eighth behind Miracles Of Life in the Group One feature.

Waterhouse has Reuben Percival primed for his engagement following a third behind Mr O'Ceirin in the Grafton Cup, his third run since resuming.

"They look like two handy rides to come back on, they both should run well," Williams said.

Among Williams' other early spring rides will be the crack New Zealander Ruud Awakening who arrives in Melbourne later this month.

Negotiations are underway with international trainers to secure Williams' Cups mount.
