Bougoure to extend success with Azzareach

Friday 31 July 2020, 1:09pm

Trainer Danny Bougoure finished the racing season with a surge of winners and now he hopes to start the new one in a similar vein.

Bougoure made it four winners from his past six runners when Ginger Rock won at Doomben on Wednesday.

He now has promising Azzareach stepping up to city class for the first time on the QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap (1000m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

"Azzareach was a good winner at the Gold Coast at his only start but these Brisbane two and three-year-old QTIS races are always very tough, but the money is good so it is worth having a go," said Bougoure, who has put a norton bit on Azzareach for the first time to stop him pulling.

Azzareach ran a very slick time on a soft track when winning at the Gold Coast and any rain would not be a problem at Eagle Farm.

Many of Bougoure's horses race in the colours worn by Cox Plate-winner Strawberry Road who he strapped when the thoroughbred was trained by his father Doug.

Danny Bougoure also enjoyed plenty of Group One success with the top sprinter Falvelon.

"Top horses are hard to get but racing is a game where you can always hope," he said.
