Adelaide filly Instant Celebrity has made it four wins from four starts with an outstanding display to win the Thousand Guineas Prelude at her first race away from home.
The prolific-winning three-year-olds were to the fore at Caulfield as Crosshaven took his record to four wins from five starts in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude for the colts and geldings..
Instant Celebrity's trainer Phillip Stokes described her as a "a really exciting filly" after her win and said she would have her next start in the Thousand Guineas.
"That was really good to see her do that. She's kept on improving and growing in confidence. Full credit to the team in Adelaide," Stokes said.
Her jockey Craig Williams echoed Stokes' assessment saying she was a high-quality filly.
Instant Celebrity settled close to the rear but Williams circled the field out wide and took the lead early in the straight.
Williams said he wouldn't ride a normal filly like that but he was prepared to do so on her knowing she was the best horse in the race.
"She's got another 21 to go before she can surpass Black Caviar's 25 wins on end," he quipped.
Williams said Instant Celebrity still had improvement to come as she had a long way to go before she was fully mature.
Instant Celebrity ($2.80 fav) defeated Personal ($15) by a length with Rock My Wand ($26) a head away third.
Ben Hayes said he took a lot of confidence from Crosshaven's win in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m) and felt it showed he would run out 1600m strongly in two weeks time.
"It was a really good effort because it looked to me that they really ran along there and he was able to do it at both ends. He's a pretty nice horse, isn't he?," Hayes said.
"He's now got a fantastic record with four wins from five starts and every race he's won he's won impressively."
Crosshaven ($5.50) defeated Amish Boy ($7) by 1-3/4 lengths with National Choice ($51) a head away third.
