Dollar For Dollar catapulted into Everest

Monday 12 October 2020, 7:15pm

Farnan is out of the $15 million The Everest with the Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained Dollar For Dollar announced as his replacement.

The Golden Slipper winner underwent a veterinary examination on Monday and was passed fit to start but his connections have decided to save him for the Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington.

Trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott confirmed Farnan would not line up in The Everest (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday.

"The colt unfortunately missed a significant lead up race to the event and all parties involved feel it is in his best interest to instead target the Group One Coolmore Stud Stakes," Waterhouse and Bott Racing said in a statement.

"Farnan is in good health and he will trial publicly this week prior to travelling to Melbourne."

The colt was to have contested the Roman Consul Stakes at Randwick last Saturday but was ruled out with a bruised foot.

The McEvoy stable confirmed Dollar For Dollar as a late inclusion into the exclusive Everest field, replacing Farnan in the slot held by Aquis.

The eight-year-old is a three-time Group One placegetter and comes off a narrow second to Zoutori in the Gilgai Stakes when he beat home fellow Everest hopefuls Tofane and Santa Ana Lane.

Co-trainer Tony McEvoy said they were thrilled to get Dollar For Dollar into the Everest.

"Dollar is at the top of his game and he was heading up for the 1200 metre Sydney Stakes anyway, so he's in tip-top shape for the race," McEvoy said.
