Kah makes it two trebles in two days

Saturday 2 January 2021, 6:43pm

Star jockey Jamie Kah has made an amazing start to the New Year making it two city trebles in two meetings for 2021 and she dedicated her success to her parents.

Kah followed her Flemington treble on January 1 with another one at Caulfield on Saturday.

Kah said her parents had come across from South Australia to watch her ride both days and said they were her lucky charm.

Kah was successful in the fourth race on Evening Glory before winning the final two races on Sword Of Mercy and then Heavenly Emperor.

Since December 27, Kah has won nine races from 16 rides.

Kah has now ridden 41 winners after five months of the 2020-21 racing season to lead the Melbourne Jockey's Premiership by 11 over Damien Oliver.

Kah timed her run to perfection to swoop home to win the Mia Tiernan Benchmark 84 Handicap over 1100m on Sword Of Mercy.

"Ever since I won on her last prep I thought she was something special. She doesn't win by much but she's very competitive and always puts her nose in front," Kah said.

The win gave the Mat Ellerton and Simon Zahra stable a winning double as they were also successful earlier in the day with Zac De Boss.

Ellerton said Sword Of Mercy had returned to work as a more mature horse as a five-year-old mare and they would try and chase black type with her.

Kah then pushed forward on Heavenly Emperor and then had to fend off a wall of challengers in the closing stages to secure victory for Flemington trainer Stephen Brown.
