Caulfield Cup jockey returns positive swab

Thursday 17 October 2013, 5:32pm

Luke Currie has been stood down from riding after returning a positive swab, leaving connections of Tuscan Fire looking for another jockey to ride the stayer in the Caulfield Cup.

Racing Victoria stewards received a report from drug testers Racing Analytical Services showing Currie returned a urine sample positive to a banned dietary supplement from a Geelong meeting last month.

He has been stood down from riding pending a stewards' inquiry.

It means he won't be able to ride Tuscan Fire, a $51 chance, in the Caulfield Cup.

Tuscan Fire's trainer Dan O'Sullivan says he wants to talk to the horse's owners "to make sure we are on the same wavelength" before booking a replacement jockey.
