Nick Hall adds another Cup to his tally

Sunday 20 October 2013, 6:36pm

Caulfield Cup winning jockey Nick Hall has backed up a day after his biggest victory to claim a prized country race.

Hall had a quiet night after winning on Fawkner with Sunday's Seymour Cup meeting in mind and duly delivered the major prize for trainer Tony McEvoy on Sysmo.

Hall produced the five-year-old late to win the Listed Cup (1600m), going to the line 1-1/4 lengths clear of Proverb.

"It's not a Caulfield Cup but it's the next best thing on a Sunday at Seymour," Hall said.

"He finished the race off nice and strong. He's got a big turn of foot and might be even better over 2000 metres."

Hall, who was suspended at Caulfield for a ride in one of the support races, said he would probably have a delayed celebration on Sunday night.

Although Sheikh Mohammed's Darley operation, which sponsored the Seymour Cup, had to settle for second with Proverb, it had success in Victoria's other country feature on Sunday.

The Anthony Freedman-trained Cornell ran out a three-quarter length winner over Isopach in the Horsham Cup (1800m) under Daniel Moor.
