Weather has played its part in Stephen Theodore's decision to target a Flemington race over an easier midweek option for Kiss Me Ketut.
But the trainer insists he will present the filly as a strong chance to continue her winning form despite an obvious jump in class.
Kiss Me Ketut was scratched from a race at Caulfield on Wednesday to run in Saturday's Nowicki Carbone Handicap (1410m), with Theodore saying predicted rain for the midweek meeting forced his hand.
Three-year-old Kiss Me Ketut has won her past two starts, firstly at Geelong before a 1-1/4 length success over 1500m at Moonee Valley on November 29.
"She is finally starting to string it all together and realise what racing is all about," Theodore said.
"It would have been lovely to go to the softer option at Caulfield yesterday but Mother Nature played a part in that plan so we head off to Flemington on Saturday with a very fit and happy horse.
"And we probably just need an element of luck to continue the (winning) run."
The Caulfield meeting was run on a slow track while Flemington was rated in the dead range on Thursday.
Kiss Me Ketut's worst result was on a heavy track in Adelaide late last season and Theodore said he wanted to keep her to firmer ground while she was in form.
The filly will be ridden by apprentice Jye McNeil who will take 3kg off the three-year-old's 58kg impost.
Kiss Me Ketut carried 59kg at Moonee Valley and Theodore is banking on the drop in weight to improve her chances from a wide draw.
"If he (McNeil) can just get her in with a bit of cover in the second half of the field for the first half of the race, she's certainly got a good motor where she can reel off good sectionals," he said.
"If she can get an uninterrupted run down the middle of the track, she'll be right in the finish again."
Theodore is aiming for back-to-back Saturday metropolitan winners after Don't Get Excited returned from a break with victory at Caulfield.
The Listed Christmas Stakes at the same track on Boxing Day is his next target.
