Tommy Berry is hoping to find out next week whether he is successful in fighting the severity of a 10-meeting riding ban out of the Hong Kong International meeting.
The top jockey has been granted permission by the Hong Kong Jockey Club to appeal the penalty from Australia and plans to hand over his submissions on Friday.
"They're going to let me do it from here which is good," Berry said.
"Hopefully it will be all done and dusted by midway through next week."
Berry is sweating on having time shaved off the penalty to allow him to partner Echo Gal in the $2 million Magic Millions Classic on January 11.
His suspension is based on Hong Kong meetings and as it stands he won't be free to return to the saddle until January 16.
"Five weeks is a long time out in Australia," Berry said.
Berry will need his penalty reduced by two meetings to take the ride on Echo Gal at the Gold Coast for his boss Gai Waterhouse.
He will ride at Randwick on Saturday before beginning his penalty and his mounts include the Waterhouse-trained Western Symbol in the Group Two Villiers Stakes.
