Matthew Dunn's plans to give Splendora her chance to shore up a Magic Millions Guineas berth will depend on the generosity of NSW handicappers.
Dunn, an early leader in the Brisbane trainers' title, wants to send Splendora to Sydney for a three-year-old fillies race at Rosehill on Saturday.
But the handicapper will have the final say on a trip south because of concerns about how she will be assessed by the Racing NSW panel.
"I'm a little bit worried about what sort of weight she is going to get," Dunn said.
Splendora occupies a prominent place in Guineas betting as an $11 chance but she remains borderline to get into the field despite her last-start placing at Listed level.
She needs a minor boost to stakes earnings and Dunn figures a Rosehill placing will be enough to seal the deal. Christian Reith has been booked for the ride.
"I think she is 20 in the (Guineas) order of entry at the moment so she just needs a little bit more prize money to guarantee her a run," he said.
"She may very well get in anyway but we'd like to make sure of it because we think she will be a real good chance."
Should Splendora make the Sydney trip from Dunn's Murwillumbah stable, she will be racing at 1400m for the first time.
But it's a distance Dunn says could easily help Splendora improve on her record of three wins in nine starts.
"Her racing pattern is getting back to last at the moment," he said.
"She can't keep up early and I'm have trouble keeping her fresh enough to be competitive over 1200 metres."
Splendora's effort to split Enquare and top filly Missy Longstocking in the Mode Stakes confirmed Dunn's thinking.
"She was terrific," he said. "She probably only needed one more bound to win the race.
"It would have been great if she had because we wouldn't have been chasing prize money."
Splendora is not the only prominent Guineas entry down to run at Rosehill with the Tony McEvoy-trained Bring A Ring nominated for the same race.
Northern Glory, a three-time two-year-old winner, is another Gold Coast hopeful entered to resume over 1100m against mares.
