Kembla Grange trainer Shane Kember has fronted an inquiry into an illegal diuretic found in his stable and subsequently in a swab taken from one of his horses.
Racing NSW chief investigator Nathan Hayward and steward Ray Livingstone visited Kember's stable on October 8, the day Craig'n'ian was due to run at Nowra.
After seeing a lump on Craig'n'ian's neck and finding unregistered injectable medicines and syringes in Kember's stable, stewards ordered the horse's withdrawal.
The blood and urine samples taken from Craig'n'ian were found to contain the prohibited substance ethacrynic acid which was also detected in a bottle labelled "Eliminate" and in a syringe taken from Kember's stable.
Blood residue in the syringe was tested by the Australian Equine Genetics Research Centre at the University of Queensland and the DNA was found to match that of Craig'n'ian.
Tuesday's inquiry was adjourned when a former stablehand could not be located to give evidence after earlier arriving at Racing NSW headquarters.
