BRISBANE Feb 14 AAP - The usually reserved Bruce Hill is optimistic about his chances of a first two state training double with Teronado and Dazzle Us on Saturday.
Teronado will make his Melbourne debut in the CS Hayes Stakes (1400m) at Flemington while Dazzle Us will be among the favourites in the Sky Racing World Hcp (2100m) at Doomben.
The Gold Coast trainer is noted for being cautious in his predictions but he is extra happy with Teronado who finished third en route to Melbourne at Rosehill on February 1.
It was Teronado's first run back from a spell and Hill believes it has done the son of sire Testa Rossa the world of good.
"We wanted to make the trip to Melbourne in two stages and he did what we expected in Sydney under 59 kilos," Hill said.
"He did well in Sydney but he has done extra well in Melbourne. I really liked the way he worked on Tuesday morning."
Teronado, who is a $26 chance on TAB fixed odds, drops 5kg to the minimum 54kg in the Hayes and steps up from 1200m to 1400m.
In-form Melbourne jockey Craig Newitt has taken the ride with an eye to riding Teronado in the Group One Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on March 1.
"I have always said you wouldn't see the best of Teronado until he got up to 1600m and I hope I am right," Hill added.
Dazzle Us has returned home in good order after a trip to Sydney where he ran second to Junoob at Rosehill on February 1.
Jim Byrne will ride Dazzle Up who is being set for another winter carnival campaign with the Ipswich and Caloundra Cups both on the radar. .
Dazzle Us was just behind the placegetters in the Ipswich Cup (sixth) and Caloundra Cup (fifth) last winter.
Meanwhile, the Robbie Laing-trained Polanski ($8) is not a certain starter for the Hayes with lingering doubts over the third favourite due to a skin infection.
