The much awaited announcement of Queensland's new chief steward will be made as early as Tuesday.
The appointment was to have been made last month but RQ extended applications until January 31.
Officials interviewed four candidates for the job last week and RQ chief executive Darren Condon confirmed the final interview had taken place on Friday.
"We got applications from all over Australia but I can confirm I interviewed four people last week.
"The announcement of the final choice should be made on Tuesday or Wednesday," Condon said.
The new chief steward will replace Wade Birch who has been made head of the RQ integrity department.
