Chloe In Paris to show class at Sandown

Trainer Ciaron Maher is looking for talented filly Chloe In Paris to play a starring role when racing returns to Sandown on Wednesday for the first time in six months.

Three-year-old Chloe In Paris has highlighted her potential with placings in stakes company in her only two starts and resumes in a 1000m benchmark 70 for three-year-olds with Maher hoping for a confidence-boosting win to start the campaign.

"Sandown is a good track and hopefully she can just kick off with a win and get a bit of confidence," Maher said.

The trainer has earmarked the Group One Sportingbet Classic for fillies and mares in Adelaide as a potential autumn target if the filly can keep stepping up.

Chloe In Paris made her debut with an encouraging third in the Group Three Quezette Stakes at Caulfield last August and then finished second to Anatina in a Listed 1000m sprint at Flemington in October.

"To start her in a Group Three at her first start you've got to have a good opinion of her," Maher said.

"She looks to have furnished and come on a bit, so hopefully she can kick off with a win and head back to stakes company."

Chloe In Paris, a filly by Exceed And Excel out of multiple Group winner Innovation Girl, has 59kg and the widest barrier in Wednesday's 11-horse field but Maher expects her class to shine through.

"She is back in grade and she's got a bit of weight but she's probably the class runner," Maher said.

Chloe In Paris has had two trials leading up to her return, including a win at Sandown on January 30.

Sandown, which is used heavily the winter in Melbourne, was closed at the end of August for renovation.

The surface of the course proper was replaced in a $3.2 million upgrade.

After barrier trials on January 30, the track was given the tick of approval by stewards for a return to racing.
