Paul Messara will have an eye on the future with two runners at separate metropolitan racetracks on Saturday.
Messara will try Mahisara at Group level for the first time this campaign at Sandown and he will start to consider distance options for Secluded after she runs at Rosehill.
Mahisara has been the trainer's only Melbourne spring carnival runner, lifting on an unplaced Caulfield run to win at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day.
The four-year-old, who ran in last year's Sandown Guineas, returns to the track to contest the Sandown Stakes.
"He is in very good form and it looks the right type of race to try him in something better," Messara said.
After scanning Monday's entries, Messara says the Group Three race will have more depth than he anticipated.
"Looking at the nominations it won't be an easy race," he said.
"It appears to be a bit stronger than I thought it would be."
Well-related Secluded heads to Rosehill close to winning form after she was beaten narrowly there on November 3.
"She is a half-sister to (Group One winner) Melito who has her foot on the till," he said.
"It will be interesting to see how far she goes distance-wise because I would like to jump her up to a mile at some stage."
