Trainer Bruce Hill was a winner with smart Choice We Had at Doomben on Wednesday but his mind was on Saturday's meeting.
Hill's Group One performer Teronado will resume for his spring campaign at Eagle Farm.
"We will work out exactly where we are going after Saturday's run. But one thing is Teronado does not want any rain," Hill said.
"He will probably go to Sydney before Melbourne but rain will change all that."
Teronado, who ran third in the Rosehill Guineas last season, trialled on Tuesday when he ran second to another southern-bound galloper in Lucky Tom.
"He pulled up well after the trial and he is ready to race on Saturday," Hill said.
Hill's apprentice Matt McGuren got away with cheap sectionals on Choice We Had, the $2.50 favourite who led all the way.
"I told Matt there didn't appear to be any pace and not to be afraid to go to the lead," Hill said.
"Choice We Had should have finished closer at his past start when third at Ipswich because he wobbled around in the straight."
Meanwhile, top jockey Tim Bell had better luck on the racetrack than in the show ring when If Ever won over 1660m.
Bell has been helping his mother Keiley show her horses at Brisbane's Royal National Show where they finished with second and fourth placings.
If Ever stormed home to score an easy win and confirmed the high opinion trainer John Morrisey has of the gelding.
