DÉJÀ VU FOR BLUEBLOOD DUO

Friday 15 August 2014, 4:34pm

Both Black Revolver and Lonnero are having a mirror image moment to their last start on the 2nd of August where they raced at Rosehill and Kembla Grange, respectively.

For Lonnero, jockey Jay Ford will be hopping on the saddle once again for the 1400m race, whilst Black Revolver will ridden by James McDonald over 1500m. Additionally, they should be just as competitive, if not better, as they were in their previous run.

In his last start, Black Revolver was just beaten by winner Moral Victory by a mere 0.2L and dead-heated for second with Hydro. Had there been an extra 50m the gelding would have most likely won. Trainer Chris Waller commented post-race “The leader had a soft time up front and duly won the race. They sprinted home in very quick sectionals which made it hard if not impossible to win from where we were. Nothing really took us into the race and he had to make his own run”.

The now 4YO son of Lonhro, is back on his home track at Rosehill tomorrow in race 8 MOUNTIES GROUP HANDICAP (1500 METRES) BM 80 HCP at 5.00pm with James McDonald in the saddle. Black Revolver will be jumping out of barrier 10 in a field of 17 tomorrow and should be able to settle mid-field and finish off the race powerfully.

Trainer Chris Waller commented pre-race, “He’s down at the bottom of the weights, which is certainly going to give him a good chance against some pretty seasoned performers”.

This will most likely be Black Revolver’s last run this preparation before heading out for a well-deserved spell.

Lonnero, another 4YO Lonhro gelding also trained by Chris Waller, returns to Kembla Grange tomorrow in race 3 MATER DEI SPECIAL SCHOOL MAIDEN PLATE (1400 METRES) at 1.25pm. He has drawn poorly in barrier 12 in a field of 11 plus 2 emergencies and jockey Jay Ford will be endeavouring to go forward and lead from the gates.

The gelding impressed in his last start on the 2nd of August at Kembla Grange where he came  second by just over 1L. Lonnero flew out of the gates and settled in front by a length. He was very relaxed and enjoyed leading but was run down in the last 150m to go. Jockey Jay Ford commented that he was “surprised by his gate speed” and said “the horse would appreciate more ground”.

BlueBlood Thoroughbreds racing manager, David Mourad commented “he has drawn wide but his brilliant gate speed should see him find a handy position up on the speed and he will take some running down again.”

The pair will be waving the BlueBlood flag tomorrow and should be very competitive. Good luck to all involved in Black Revolver and Lonnero.
