Well-related Spirit Of Heaven is starting to deliver on her early promise, adding another dimension to her racing repertoire in a convincing win at Caulfield.
The four-year-old, a three-quarter sister to Group One winner and Caulfield Cup placegetter Lights Of Heaven, sat close to the speed in the Anzac Centenary Handicap (1600m) and appreciated her light weight with apprentice Regan Bayliss aboard to win by 3-1/4 lengths.
Spirit Of Heaven won impressively on debut in a Sandown midweeker as a two-year-old on a heavy track but had to wait 13 months before registering another win.
That came at Sandown on slow going last month before another midweek win on July 27.
Moody said it was good to see the mare show she was capable of winning races on firmer footing, with Caulfield rated in the dead range.
"We had her tagged as a little bit of a wet tracker so we wanted to see her carry that form over," Moody said.
"She has made the leap from a Wednesday Sandown race to a Saturday at Caulfield, now hopefully we can chase a bit of black type with her like her big sister."
"She's a good mare and I've won black-type (races) with a lot worse than her so I'd be disappointed if we can't place her somewhere," Moody said.
Spirit Of Heaven ($4) sprinted clear of her rivals from the top of the straight with 51kg to defeat Spirited Will ($21) with Oriental Ruby ($31) third and favourite Atlantis Dream fourth.
