Infinite Energy may have raced his way out of a tried horse sale with his win in Saturday's RSL Ramlegh Springs Handicap at Caulfield.
The gelding is one of 195 lots catalogued for sale at an auction in Melbourne on Friday but trainer Peter Moody said Infinite Energy could have forced his owners to rethink their plans.
"There will be a bit of soul-searching for the owners during the week but he's a six-year-old and there are plenty of young horses in the yard so you draw a line in the sand," Moody said.
"We'll enjoy today and we'll worry about the sale on Monday or Tuesday."
A drifter from $6 to $8, Infinite Energy gave Charmed Harmony a decent start at the top of the straight but responded to jockey Jason Benbow's hard riding to beat the $2.45 favourite by a half-head while Another Prelate was the same margin away third.
Moody said Benbow's ride was the key to Infinite Energy's return to his best form.
"Jason has done a lot of work on him at home and never had a (race) ride on him and the horse appreciated a strong left hand rider on him," Moody said.
"Jason produced him at the right time and gave him a couple of strong whacks with the left hand and he stuck his head out whereas in the past he might have laid in and cost himself the race."
Infinite Energy completed an early double for Moody after talented mare Spirit Of Heaven recorded a hat-trick of wins.
