The Brisbane Race Club will honour the late race caller Wayne Wilson by naming a race after him on Stradbroke Handicap day in June each year.
The Wayne Wilson Memorial will be an open company quality event over 1600m at Brisbane's premier race meeting.
Wilson, who called 29 Stradbrokes, and former top jockey Ron Conquest were inducted into the Stradbroke Hall of Fame at a function at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Conquest rode the former star galloper Lucky Ring who won back to back Stradbroke Handicaps in 1949-50.
The BRC also gave life membership to Wilson's wife Sally.
"Wayne and Ron have been great supporters of Queensland racing and are closely associated with the Stradbroke," BRC Chairman Neville Bell said.
Wilson died in June after a 15-year battle with cancer but continued to call races until September last year.
