Stipes quiz trainers over Valley incident

Saturday 23 August 2014, 4:38pm

Tempers flared between trainers John Sadler and Wayne Hawkes at Moonee Valley on Saturday leading to both appearing before stewards.

Hawkes alleged Sadler barged into him with his hip and shoulder in the mounting yard before the third race.

"Wayne Hawkes reported to the stewards an alleged incident in the mounting yard after that race where it was alleged Mr Sadler with his (Hawkes') words `gave him a hip and shoulder with some purpose'," chief steward Terry Bailey said.

Bailey said stewards had taken evidence from both trainers as well as Hawkes' wife.

"We've adjourned the matter," Bailey said.
