The Wow Signal has given sub-fertile stallion Starspangledbanner his first Group One success in the Prix Morny at Deauville.
The winner of the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, The Wow Signal was part of a winning Group One double in France for jockey Frankie Dettori and gave his trainer John Quinn his biggest victory in a Flat race.
Starspangledbanner was a Group One winner in both hemispheres but was found to have fertility problems at Coolmore Stud in Ireland and was sent to Anthony Mithen's Rosemont Stud in Victoria last season.
He covered a limited book of just over 50 mares with a 50 per cent success rate.
The Wow Signal is one of the first northern hemisphere crop and was one of two stakes winners for Starspangledbanner at Royal Ascot.
Quinn said the colt would be even better over further than the 1200 metres of Sunday's race.
"He's crying out for seven furlongs (1400m) and I would say it will either be the Dewhurst or the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere for him next," Quinn said.
Harry Herbert, racing manager for the owners Al Shaqab Racing, suggested a return trip to France was the likely option.
"We'll look at the Dewhurst, but I think it is probably more likely we'll aim at the big two-year-old race at Longchamp on Arc day, the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere, which is sponsored by Qatar.
"I think I am right in saying this is a first two-year-old Group One winner for Al Shaqab Racing, so it's a fantastic result and he's clearly a very exciting horse."
Starspangledbanner will be paraded at Rosemont on Saturday and will return to Coolmore late in the year to prepare for the European breeding season.
Dettori's other Group One at Deauville came aboard Ribbons in the Jean Romanet for trainer James Fanshawe and Elite Racing.
