Quality field of 11 for Memsie Stakes

Wednesday 27 August 2014, 11:44am

Six Group One winners headline a quality field of 11 runners declared for Saturday's weight-for-age Memsie Stakes at Caulfield.

Track specialist Moment Of Change will be chasing his fourth elite win over the 1400m route from barrier eight with Luke Nolen to ride.

Star New Zealand mare Silent Achiever has barrier three for her resumption while Cox Plate runner-up Happy Trails has drawn barrier two.

The Memsie Stakes is the first Group One race of the season and has attracted extra interest this year due to the wet tracks in Sydney.

Hawkes Racing has sent Messene south in search of a firmer surface and he has drawn well in barrier four, while Chris Waller has adopted a similar approach with Boban who will jump from nine.

Puissance De Lune has the inside gate in his quest for a maiden Group One victory while stayer Sertorius has drawn widest, just outside Missile Stakes winner Sweet Idea.

Caulfield Cup winner Fawkner and the Waller-trained Foreteller were not among the acceptances on Wednesday.
