The rise of premier trainer Tony Gollan has never been better demonstrated with weight of numbers on his side in Saturday's open sprint at Doomben.
Gollan has accepted with Rocket To Glory, Gundy Son, Theft and The Storeman in the the Barry Nilsson Lawyers Hcp (1110m).
It is not unusual for leading Sydney trainers such as Chris Waller and Gai Waterhouse to have four runners in a race but it is extremely rare for a Brisbane stable.
All four Gollan sprinters have graduated to open company ranks during the past 12 months.
The trainer insists comparisons with Waller and Waterhouse are unjustified and his representation has more to do with the honesty of his horses.
"It is just the way things have fallen. There isn't much else around for them and they are all fairly highly rated horses," Gollan said.
"They all are better suited starting off their campaigns at the 1100 metres on Saturday rather than in a 1200 metre race next week."
All four of Gollan's runners have been placed in recent barrier trials and he is expecting them to perform well.
Rival trainer Darren Bell has Falino up against the Gollan quartet and will make a decision on a trip to Sydney after Saturday's race.
"He has continued to go well but with these older horses it is best to see if he can maintain his form," Bell said of the brilliant first-up winner.
Rival trainer Desleigh Forster has called on apprentice Sam Payne's 3kg claim for topweight Adebisi, bringing him into the race with 57kg.
