Gordon Lord Byron has just failed to defend his Sprint Cup title at Haydock with G Force living up to his name with a late charge.
A Group One winner of the George Ryder Stakes in Sydney earlier this year, Gordon Lord Byron was in front inside the final furlong (200m) but G Force flashed past to win by three-quarters of a length.
It was a first domestic Group One win for trainer David O'Meara and jockey Danny Tudhope.
Music Master was third, with favourite Sole Power fourth after having to weave his way through as he tried to show he could stay six furlongs.
"I'm a little bit overwhelmed," O'Meara said.
"We thought he was good from day one. He hasn't had the rub of the green a couple of times this year.
"He didn't have much luck in running in the Nunthorpe, but we had every faith he'd be able to go and do it one day.
Gordon Lord Byron's trainer Tom Hogan said the globetrotting gelding was likely to head to France rather than return to Australia for the VRC Sprint in Melbourne.
"The horse ran a great race and he will go to the Prix de la Foret now and we will be back here next year," Hogan said.
