The road to an elusive Group One win has started smoothly for Catkins who has begun her spring campaign with an easy win at Rosehill.
The odds-on favourite for Saturday's Group Three Sheraco Stakes (1200m), Catkins ($1.90) travelled sweetly for Hugh Bowman who had the race in his control.
The mare was not pushed too hard to beat My Sabeel ($31) by 2-1/2 lengths with Neena Rock ($26) an eye-catching third another neck away after getting back to last early.
A close second to now-retired stablemate Red Tracer in the Group One Myer Classic last spring, Catkins will head to the mares' race again.
"She is a horse who keeps herself out of trouble and puts herself in the race," Waller said.
"That makes it easier but I was nervous. You always want to see them come back.
"I think the Myer Classic is her race. She came so close last year.
"We will bring her back here to Rosehill in a couple of weeks and she will go to the Myer at her fourth run."
Catkins' jockey Hugh Bowman said the mare did it with little help from him.
"She is a dream to ride. It is an honour," he said.
"She has brilliant gate speed, puts herself in a position. She travels well and moves into the race when you want her to.
"I knew I was on the best horse. She was thrown in on weights and measures and she didn't let anyone down."
She certainly never lets her owners, the Ingham family, down with family spokesperson Lyn Ingham saying it was horses like Catkins that kept them in racing.
"We hold our breath but she is awesome," she said.
"It is fabulous to have a horse who just wants to win and that's what she wants to do.
"Every winner is a winner and it is still to this day a magical feeling. It's what keeps bringing us back."
