Dissident looks unlikely to back up in the Underwood Stakes as trainer Peter Moody plots a Cox Plate path.
A start in Saturday's 1800-metre Group One at Caulfield was undecided on Tuesday morning but later Moody's racing manager Jeff O'Connor said on social media that Dissident would bypass the race.
"Next start likely the Rupert Clarke, followed by Caulfield Stakes, Cox Plate," O'Connor posted on Twitter.
Dissident moved to Cox Plate favouritism with his gritty win in Saturday's Group One Makybe Diva Stakes to add to his Memsie Stakes win first-up.
Moody said the four-year-old had pulled up well from Saturday's win.
New Zealand mare Silent Achiever pleased trainer Roger James with the way she finished off her work in company with Let's Make Adeal at Flemington on Tuesday morning.
But the first part of the gallop was not what the trainer wanted.
"Something was lost in translation there between trainers and jockeys," James said.
"Both Nigel (Blackiston), who trains the workmate, and myself had intended that they go 1600 metres but they went very slowly early and only ended up going 1200 (metres)."
James said Silent Achiever pulled up well from the hit-out and would do a bit more work on Thursday.
"We can rectify that on Thursday morning but I would have preferred that it was done this morning," James said.
"She's going to go into the race in the right order."
Happy Trails, a last-start eighth in the Memsie, finished fourth in last year's Underwood and trainer Paul Beshara believes last year's Cox Plate runner-up is in a similar vein of form this year.
He says the gelding hasn't peaked but expects Saturday's race to bring him on again ahead of his Turnbull Stakes defence and the Cox Plate.
Happy Trails worked on the course proper at Caulfield on Tuesday and will be ridden by Michael Rodd on Saturday.
